Lachenaie Industrial Eco-District
location: Terrebonne, Canada
client: City of Terrebonne
The Challenge
The city of Terrebonne is planning the creation of an innovative and exemplary industrial hub: an industrial eco-district that will stand out from traditional industrial and technology parks by attracting green economy businesses and focusing resolutely on sustainable development. The proposed site, a vast 165-hectare area, is located north of Highway A-640 in the Lachenaie sector. This territory, consisting of agricultural land and wooded areas, is bisected from north to south by Montée Josaphat-Thouin.
The Response
The project proposes the creation of three distinct zones: an agricultural area in the south, a medium-sized industrial area in the center, and a large industrial area in the north. It highlights natural environments of interest and promotes sustainable construction as well as eco-responsible business practices, such as the goal of net-zero carbon emissions. The park also emphasizes the promotion of active and healthy lifestyles through a pedestrian-friendly environment, with shared parking infrastructure, linear parks, and communal facilities for the well-being of users.
